On 14th December, CSO Mat Upton was invited to attend the Final Forum of the Saudi Biotechnology Accelerator (SBA) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event marked the culmination of the 2025 Accelerator Programme and brought together innovators, investors, mentors, and ecosystem leaders from across the global biotechnology sector.

The forum showcased a selection of the 62 biotechnology companies that participated in the Accelerator, highlighting the breadth of innovation emerging across biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, MedTech, and digital health. For Amprologix, the event provided a valuable opportunity to engage with fellow founders, programme mentors, investors, and members of the wider SBA team, and to gain deeper insight into the rapidly evolving biotechnology landscape in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Biotechnology Accelerator represents a truly international alliance, combining global expertise in biotechnology innovation, asset selection and translation, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, venture creation, and access to investment. Beyond supporting individual companies, SBA is playing a central role in building a sustainable biotechnology ecosystem. This includes strengthening clinical trial infrastructure, streamlining intellectual property commercialisation pathways, and anchoring investment opportunities designed to attract world-class biotech talent and international capital to the region.
Throughout the forum, it was clear that Saudi Arabia has a strong and growing ambition to become a regional hub for biotechnology, aligned with the national Vision 2030 strategy. Significant efforts are underway to create an environment that supports the development, testing, and deployment of innovative biotechnology solutions aimed at addressing major global healthcare challenges.
"At Amprologix, our work developing first-in-class antibiotics aligns closely with regional plans to expand the biomanufacture of therapeutic biologics, and strengthen local and regional capabilities in advanced healthcare technologies. We are excited to explore these opportunities in greater depth over the coming months and to assess how our science and platform technologies may contribute to this rapidly developing ecosystem." We would like to thank the Saudi Biotechnology Accelerator team for delivering an engaging and impactful 2025 Accelerator Programme, and for their continued commitment to advancing biotechnology innovation at a global scale.
